GP Registrar Training - Registrar Teaching

Day Release

We have a day release programme of approximately 18 days per year, attended solely by the GP Registrars.

A recent programme is attached.

Our programme is designed to meet the needs of summative assessment and the MRCGP with a focus on communication skills.   The content is decided with input from the registrars themselves and the registrars take an active part on the day.  We have a regular journal club, discussion group, case analysis and small group work as well as outside speakers.

We encourage participation in a registrar MRCGP study group.  We have an annual 2 day residential to encourage team building and peer support.

In addition, registrars receive 3 hours per week of protected teaching time in their practices.
