This is an academic scheme which provides a unique and special method of modular learning. Through Keele University modules it extends your thinking, challenges your concepts and engenders an environment of academic and adult learning rarely experienced in a vocational training scheme. The end result can be a Certificate or Diploma in Primary Care Sciences, or a Masters in Medical Sciences. Here is the programme specification.

"Joining this vocational training scheme involves automatic enrolment on the Keele University Masters award (MMedSci). As well as using allocated education budgets, it also requires additional payments from trainees. A substantial proportion of the university fee is paid for by the Deanery in addition to the study leave budget, and this academic route is the VTS provision in ST1 and ST2. No alternative teaching is available during ST1 and ST2 years. Details are available upon request, via Keele University website and www.northstaffsvts.com and should be read prior to accepting this rotation. The funding by me is not reimbursable by the PCT or Deanery."
